Psilocybin Mushrooms

Is Canada the Only Country with Shroom Dispensaries?

Psilocybin and other psychedelics may be helpful for a number of mental health and other disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anorexia, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and addiction, according to studies from recent years. Indigenous peoples have used psychedelics in spiritual ceremonies for hundreds of years because they understand their therapeutic benefits.

Psilocybin was designated a “breakthrough therapy” in the treatment of severe depression by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2018. This classification is given by the agency to medicines that early trials show significantly outperform standard therapies.

As continued research is done on psilocybin and more of its benefits are discovered, the demand for it grows. Canada isn’t the only country in the world that has shroom dispensaries. In fact, there are many countries around the world that embrace the therapeutic effects of psilocybin and where its use is legal for citizens. Let’s explore the places around the world that are psilocybin-friendly.

Shroom Dispensaries in the U.S.

Voters in Oregon approved a ballot proposal in 2020, setting the state on the way to a licensing and regulating system that will, starting in 2023, allow patients to use psilocybin under supervision. Psilocybin was first made lawful in Oregon.

The Connecticut legislature began the process of licensing facilities where veterans and first responders might get psilocybin and MDMA (a synthetic psychedelic) in its budget bill this year. For a long time, several veterans’ organizations have fought for the availability of psychedelic therapies for veterans, especially those with PTSD.

Texas, Utah, and Washington have established task teams or provided funding for studies into the use of psilocybin for medical purposes. Maryland has established a $1 million fund to research non-traditional therapies, such as psychedelics, for traumatic brain injury or post-traumatic stress disorder and to pay for such therapies for veterans.

Psilocybin legalization proposals are currently on the ballot in Colorado and California. A bill to legalize psilocybin for the treatment of specific diseases was submitted last month by the president of the New Jersey Senate.

Cities like Ann Arbour, Michigan, Denver, Oakland, California, and Seattle have passed measures that essentially decriminalize psilocybin mushrooms and sometimes other psychedelics derived from plants or fungi.

Shroom Dispensaries in Europe

The most psychedelic-friendly nation in Europe is the Netherlands. Across the nation, getting psilocybin truffles, salvia, peyote, and other comparable psychedelics from coffee shops is a routine occurrence.

The nation places more emphasis on informing people about the effects of drugs than strictly enforcing the dos and don’ts. The theory is that covering up social vices doesn’t help them go away; on the contrary, it makes them worse. The government has largely decriminalized the use of various substances. However, drug possession and trade without a license remain crimes.

Aside from psilocybin truffles, a growing psilocybin-assisted therapy and retreat scene is also emerging. The Netherlands is quickly gaining popularity as people from all over the world travel there to try out legal psilocybin-assisted therapy.

There are a multitude of shroom dispensaries in the United Kingdom as well. Even though shrooms are still considered illegal in the UK, the demand for it grows. Leading psychiatrists and conservative drug reformers are pleading with ministers to reschedule the hallucinogenic chemical psilocybin so that scientists can investigate its potential as a medicine.

Jamaica

Psilocybin mushrooms were never made illegal in Jamaica, not even at the height of the War on Drugs. Despite this, the cultivation and distribution of magic mushrooms have typically been restricted to the black market. That is beginning to change.

The business, Silo Wellness, launched the nation’s first authorized functional and psychedelic mushroom retail location in Jamaica in 2021. Since that time, more mushroom stores have sprung up all throughout Bob Marley’s country. Similar to this, psilocybin retreats and healing centers have sprung up all across the island country, drawing both locals and visitors from abroad. Jamaica is therefore rapidly developing into a well-known psychedelic vacation destination worldwide.

The Bahamas

Though psilocybin itself is a restricted substance, growing and selling psilocybin mushrooms in the Bahamas is allowed as long as you’re still in the Caribbean. In recent years, psilocybin health and wellness resorts have opened up all over the islands, much like in Jamaica.

Brazil

In this list of nations where psychedelics are permitted, Brazil comes out on top. While psilocybin mushrooms are essentially legal in Brazil, where they are still sold almost exclusively on the black market, they take the top spot because the Latin American behemoth has also legalized ayahuasca.

And of Course… Canada

Of course, we can’t leave our beloved Canada out of this article since shroom dispensaries are popping up all over the country. The most popular province to find shroom dispensaries in-store and online is British Columbia, however, there is a shroom boom in Toronto and Ottawa as well. You can find many walk-in shroom dispensaries in these places and countless online shroom dispensaries. These dispensaries usually have a vast variety of dried shroom species like Golden Teacher, Penis Envy, Blue Meanies, Flying Saucers, Avery Albino, South American, Cambodian, Costa Rican, and hundreds of more varieties. You can also find shroom microdose capsules and delicious shroom edibles like gummies, chocolate bars, cocoa powder mixes, lemonade drink mixes, and teas.  Prices are very reasonable from online shroom dispensaries in Canada and shipping is quite cheap if you’re ordering from within the country.

It’s becoming more clear every day that as more of psilocybin’s therapeutic benefits are discovered, people are turning to psilocybin-assisted therapy instead of pharmaceutical drugs to heal and resolve medical issues. This is not just true for Canadians, but for people all over the world. Many governments in countries like Brazil, the Netherlands, and the Bahamas are already quite forward-thinking and have understood how psilocybin can help their citizens have a better quality of life and healthier mental health. We hope the rest of the world follows suit and that eventually it’s decriminalized in every country in the world.

We at Get Magic Mushrooms urge our customers to do the necessary research on any psychedelic beforehand to know what to expect, and always start with the lowest dose available if it’s your first time. Have a safe and happy trip!
